Old Fashioned -

The first mention in print of "old fashioned cocktails” where it was called the “old fashioned whiskey cocktail” was in the Chicago Daily Tribune in February 1880. However, the Pendennis Club, a gentlemen's club founded in 1881 in Louisville, Kentucky, claims the old fashioned cocktail was invented there.

Glassware: 
Old Fashioned Glass
Ingredients: 
  • Bulliet bourbon or rye
  • Seltzer or Club Soda
  • Fresh orange slice
  • Maraschino Cherry
  • Sugar Cube
  • Angostura Bitters
Directions: 

Muddle orange slice, cherry and sugar cube in bottom of glass with 3 dashes angostura bitters.  Fill glass with ice.  2/3 bourbon or rye and top with Seltzer or Club Soda.
